Is this like a keloid? It’s not painful. It’s like a build up of tissue that sheds.

I had this with both my Monroe piercings. It would come and go, like it was trying to grow over the back of the jewelry. 100% fixed the problem by buying better jewelry. I don’t know specifically what mine is called, but it’s a ‘comfort back’ piece, and is rounded instead of being flat.

How long has it been since you got it pierced?
The lump is normal swelling, the white funk, that wipes away, is probably a combination of (perfectly normal) pus and scabbing. When we get scabs on the insides of our mouths, the constant moisture make them gooey and white.
