Do you ovulate every month?

Help please... I am 39 and we are TTC #1. Last month I was taking opk tests every day but I didn’t have a LH surge. I took my period today, does that mean I didn’t ovulate last month? I will start opk tests again on cycle day 6 this month, my cycles are normally 26 days. Any advice would be great x
