So I’ve grown up with very strict conservative parents. In more recent years, my dad has started to ease up on thinking that “tattoo=you’ll never get a job and be a bum” since a family friend of ours has some big tattoos on his arms and is super successful in his life and is a great guy.

But my mom still thinks that tattoos make people degenerates and such.

Now, I’m 22. I have my own money and have spent the last year and a half planning out what my tattoo is going to be and where I’m going to get it. I know where I’m going to go. I know I’d like to get it in the next month or so, also.

I’m just wondering if anyone has advice on how to tell my parents that I’m going to get one before I do. The best thing I’ve thought of is just blurting it out at dinner and I know that’s definitely not good.
