Could I be pregnant?

So I am on birth control and have been for 2 months, me and my SO used protection as well but the condom broke and we didn't realize it till it was to late and I didn't even think about stoping my birthcontrol because it didn't worry me to much(cuz if I did get pregnant it was obviously meant to happen) but anyways I'm still taking my birth control and my period is late by 2 days now and I did take a test it came back negative. Could my birth control be giving me a negative test even if I am pregnant?
