Should there be mandatory annual STI screening?

Things to consider:
- would making annual STI checking lower the rate of people that contract STI’s?
- if checking was mandatory should treatment be mandatory too? 
- if you did make yearly STI screenings mandatory, what would happen to people that don’t comply? 
- would such a rule violate body autonomy? 
  • if no, why not?
  • if yes then is there ever an instance in which violating the rights of the individual is necessary for the well being of the community?

even though i agree with  the idea of it, its not very practical. especially for those who dont have insurance. would the screening be free? would the treatment be free? i dont think its right to force someone to pay for something mandatory like that. Uh...no. I’m not really a fan of mandatory health anything, but I think something that would help is making STI checks free, as PP does, and providing free treatment, but that ties into healthcare and is a whole other issue.

I don't think it should be mandatory. There needs to be more education so people do get tested every year if they have multiple partners.
But there are people who do not have sex, and may not ever want to, there are couples who have only ever been with each other and it stays that way.
If you have more than one sexual partner and don't know your partners history, or they have had multiple partners, then it makes sense.
I just don't think everyone needs to pay out of pocket on copays for a mandatory testing they don't need. The idea of it is nice though. But it's more a matter of educating people to get tested every year depending on their own sex life.

I think it should be. It's a health concern and it's something that a responsible sexually active person does. Shit happens. STDs aren't something to be ashamed about. It's better to be tested and treated rather than going around willy nilly and whipping your dick out or dropping your panties. A lot of people don't use condoms and on top of that, condoms break. Shit. Happens. 
I feel like a fine would be an adequate punishment. 
I don't think it violates body autonomy since it is a health concern that affects other people. I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to get tested. I get test every six months to be on the safe side even when I am in committed relationships.
