Offensive Billboard?

Question

A billboard promoting the upcoming Showtime series SMILF (single mother I’d like to fuck in case anyone isn’t familiar with the acronym) recently became a point of contention in my city. Is it offensive, and should it have been removed?

For some reason the article didn’t contain a still photo of the actual billboard, but in the video footage it was just this image stretched to fit.

personally? No I don't think it's offensive. i guess You could argue it's objectification but you could also argue that it's empowerment, saying that single mothers are just as sexual as women without children. or you could say it's just a tv show. I mean... people have a problem with this but not all of the insane sex and rape on Game of Thrones LOL.  but it has to do with sex. Which means someone's going to be offended. rightly or wrongly. so I'm really not surprised.

I think they were right to take it down. It just perpetuates the notion that women are rated on their fuckability.
Like you’re supposed to be like “omg, yay, you’d fuck me? My life finally has meaning!”

I don’t think the title itself is offensive. Showtime and HBO type of channels are known for being kind of subversive. One of my favorite shows on there is Shameless and, well, the title says it all when it comes to that show.
As for the whole kids thing...my perspective may be kind of skewed by being child free, but couldn’t you just lie to them? Say it means Smart Moms in Love Forever or something.

I think the smilf thing is very inappropriate for a bilboard. but while I wouldn't watch such a dumb show, I don't have a problem with it. mom's are hot too, haha.

Meh. I went to America and saw lingerie ads on massive billboards when I was thirteen so this doesn’t surprise me and I don’t think it’s some new level of objectifying women. 
I don’t really have an opinion on the word smilf but I think this whole “IT MADE MY KID ASK QUESTIONS!!¡¡” bs is ridiculous. It happens. Kids ask questions about everything. And believe it or not, you don’t HAVE to answer every question, you don’t HAVE to tell the truth about something minor like this, why not just tell them it’s a rude word and they’ll get in trouble for saying it like with ANY other rude word they hear. It’s not that hard. Yeesh. You not wanting to deal with your kids asking questions like kids should, is a sad excuse to be against anything.

I don't find it offensive and I believe everything can be explained in an age appropriate way. I'm also wondering how a child asking what the acronym means shows a lack of innocence.

I try not to give my opinion directly in the question for polls I create, but I find the term (S)MILF very objectifying and offensive. I don’t care to be discussed in terms of my perceived fuckability. 
However, Wikipedia has the creator Frankie Shaw listed as the lead actress featured in the photo, so maybe there’s a reclamation argument to be made?
