am I pregnant?

I am so confused; my period is 4 days late (according to the app, which is usually at least 2 days behind). My nurse did a urine pregnancy test, and while I was in the room with the doctor, the nurse came in and said "HCG negative". when I Googled it, it said HCG is the hormone present when pregnant.  What does this mean, and why would I be this late if I'm not pregnant? I have a pretty normal cycle.

Anything can throw off a period. Try taking another test in a day or two but you probably aren't pregnant. First response early response will need the least amount of HCG to detect pregnancy.

stress, diet, excercize regiment can all make your cycle wonky, among other things.  keep track and test again in a few days if period doesn't show.  my cycles were  fairly regular but have lengthened in the last year i went from an average 28 cycle to 30-31 days.

Almost anything can disrupt your cycle (stress, lack of sleep, too much sleep, not enough water, change in diet, etc.). I had a regular on the dot cycle that would get disrupted every once in awhile.

thank you guys!!! I'm just confused because nothing has really changed as far as diet, sleep or exercise, and now I'm stressing about it which could probably throw it off more! should I wait like two more days and test again? and how soon would symptoms show, like nausea, headache, etc?

am I pregnant?
