Ok with gender surprise?

Jade

I'm really considering not finding out the gender until the birth. So much stigma surrounds gender alone. For example, I may find out I'm expecting a girl and assume her behavior and character, but then she ends up identifying more with being a boy, and my assumptions caused unnecessary confusion. It seems strange to me to "hope for a boy/girl" because then there's that little pang of disappointment already associated with the kid if they aren't the gender I hoped for. I welcome perspective from mommies who are hoping for a certain gender, and from other mommies who are thinking about being surprised.
