Potty training ???!

Question

How are you all going about potty training ? What methods and what age?? Also do you have to move them to a toddler bed?

I won’t start worrying about it until he starts showing interest in using the potty and wales up from naps with a dry diaper. Currently, his only interest in the toilet is flushing it.

My 17mo has been doing great and it’s been 100% her lead. I explained to her what the potty was and she now lets me know when she needs to go and is in pull ups. We have the seat attachment that’s smaller and she sits on it and poos! She’s been doing better with poo than per. She is in a toddler bed but wears night time pull ups

Right now I'm working on teaching my son how to tell me when he is going potty. Once we get that down I'll do the typical put him on the potty every 45 minutes or so with lots of praise if he goes. He's still so young though so I'm probably not seriously starting until he's 2. Just setting the groundwork now.

I think if I’d bring home a potty now she would just use it as a bucket for toys. She tells me when she needs a clean nappy and hands me toilet paper when I’m in the bathroom (one day there shall be privacy again... right?) but I think we are a while off yet. Thinking about getting some books on the topic to introduce the concept and we will just take it from there. No rush.

We have introduced the potty and she’s gone a lot in it. But she still doesn’t kno to tell us when she has to go. She’s still young so I think she’s not ready. I’m hoping over xmas break we will be able to do some real training and maybe getting it to work. We converted her crib to a toddler bed last night. Figured we don’t want to throw it all at her at once.

We bought some potty books after my son was pointing to his diaper and letting us know he was going potty. We have also started putting him on the potty for a couple minutes every once in awhile (usually before bathtime) just to get comfortable. I don't think he is completely ready but I figured it doesn't hurt to introduce it. I haven't done a lot of research yet on the best methods but I am assuming at night he will stay in diapers and diaper-less during the day? So a toddler bed or crib wouldn't matter but I could be wrong, like I said I need to do some more research. Excited to hear other people's info, opinions, etc!

My son casually told us he needed to go poo poo at 13 months so we sat him on the potty and he went. He did it a few more times for 2 weeks and kind of stopped. Now at 15 months he tells us throughout the day that he needs to go "poo poo" even if it's just pee. This has been consistent for the last 3 weeks so we've been using pull ups to get him off the diapers full time.

My son uses the sign for Toilet to tell us he needs to potty. He still sleeps in his crib and holds his pee all night. He still needs help to sit on the potty and pull up and down his pants but he can wipe (Just pee we do the heavy duty poop) and flush by himself. We started by learning his cues and sitting him on the potty and lots of positive reinforcements. He regressed a little after number two was born but after a couple weeks with some accidents, he has been doing great! Looks for signs of readiness. Holding pee during naps. Interested in potty, able to acknowledge and communicate that they are peeing or pooping or have done that or need to do that. Lots of research online on how you want to do it. We use cloth training undies because regular underwear don’t fit and they are absorbent for any accidents. Be patient and gracious!
