What does medicaid cover?

I am working on my healthcare marketplace application for 2018. Because I’m due in April, I have put my small income of around $10000 for the 2018 year. I’ll only be working 3 months. My husband’s is around $20000/ yr. Instead of allowing me to chose a plan, it is saying that I am eligible for medicaid. This is for North Carolina. I have already chosen an OBGYN and hospital that I really want to stick with. Would medicaid, if I’m found eligible, pay for my hospital and doctor of choice or would I be sent to a generic health department type of place for my healthcare? 
I’m highly embarrassed because this is only our situation due to trying to get on our feet as a young married couple. We both have degrees and do well for our age. I don’t want to use the government and be judge for being “poor” just because I want to stay at home with my child! 
Anyway, what can you tell me about medicaid coverage?

it's different for every state and even county. don't be embarrassed to be on medicaid!! Google medicaid in your state or call your local Human services agency office for your county and start there. generally only certain Dr's accept medicaid. but you'll just have to ask your office. luckily when I switched, mine accepted medicaid so I didn't have to change!

Why are you embarrassed? Medicaid is a life saver & they have medicad specifically for pregnant women, my doctor actually recommended it so I wouldn't have to pay for the delivery fee. It's amazing girl, just think about it being for the baby. They will answer any questions you have once you sign up for it, just make sure your obgyn accepts it.

They cover your pregnancy costs. Most doctors take it because you’re pregnant. You can always ask your doctor though to make sure they do.

As long as you’re married, you have to claim all income when you file for Medicaid (at least in IL.) 
Call and find out if the doctor and the hospital you want to use accept Medicaid, which managed plans they accept (I have Medicaid, but I have a managed plan through BCBS), and if the doctor and hospital will work together.

I had Medicaid with my first baby as I was 22 and a single mom. They paid for everything. I just had to find an OBGYN that accepted the pregnancy Medicaid and it was all good. I live in Florida so I don’t know if it’s any different, but it shouldn’t be.

Generally you need to just call and ask every provider you use. It’s what I do since I’m on Medicaid!

Just call the doctors office of your liking and ask them do they accept Medicaid. If they say they do ask them what providers do they allow. And just go from there. I pay for insurance with my job but I also was approved for Staywell which is Medicaid, so I use both.
