So confused...

I found out we are pregnant last week. Started have some bright red bleeding Monday night. It was enough to concern me but never enough to leak onto my clothes. ER said the saw an empty sac measuring 5 weeks 2 days. They said I was having a miscarriage. I only bleed for 3 hours and I'm not bleeding anymore and never had cramping. I called the doctor to set up a follow appointment. They told me at 5 weeks a lot of people are not far enough to even see a fetal pole. so now I wait a week and go back for another ultrasound. So there is still some hope. I really hope I'm not getting my hopes up too high. But this our 1st baby and my Fiance and I are so excited! Has this happened to anyone else? The ER told me not to go back to work for the rest of the week. It's been really hard not to worry myself to much while I'm sitting at home by myself.
