My husband and I had a great night last night. we went to an outdoor mall and got dinner, went shopping and got a nice bag of candy. about 5 pieces of chocolate candy from See's candy.

I left the bag in my purse in the bathroom. well, while I was taking doggy #2 out I walk in the house to find this guy licking his lips!

I ran back to the bathroom saying

there's no way he found it and went through my purse and pulled it out and ate it all. the bag was ripped to shreds. I was too late

he has since spent the last 10 minutes burping. DISCLAIMER: this will not kill my dog. I love him very much and would take him to a vet if I thought he was going to die. he has to eat his weight in chocolate for it to kill him. he will for now have an upset tummy.

My small chihuahua opened a snack cabinet, dragged a bag of marshmallows out and ate thru the plastic bag they were sealed in to eat them! I walked in to my pit just starring at her haha, he obviously knew better!!

yup my dog is annoying as heck when it comes to food. he recently ate my chocolate as well but didn't seem to have any side effects. it was a full bar of chocolate. he got up on my couch to get it, it was on a dinner folding table. and about a year ago I made brownies, he got up onto the stove while they were cooling and ate the whole pan. the pan was glass and it shattered. thank God he didn't eat glass but he did have a hay day on our carpets for about two days. we lived in an apartment at the time

my little mini pin climbed onto the table and ate a container full of my parents chocolate covered coffee beans 😭 he survived but damn did he diarrhea soooooo much. i don't know how he's still alive at his age with all he's been through. he's getting so old now and still kicking.

While it's true it probably won't hurt him.  It actually depends on the type of chocolate.  Baking and dark chocolate are much worse for dogs and it would take very little to hurt him or any other dog no matter the size.  Milk chocolate is a little more forgiving. Again I realize 5 pieces of (milk chocolate) candy probably will give him diarrhea and thats about it....I just wanted to fix the "eat his weight" myth. From someone who works and dearly loves animals.  That being said.... I'm sad for you and your chocolate void, hope you get a replacement!  🍫
