Anyone from the UK?

Question

I called my gp 2 weeks to request an appointment with a midwife, they told me the normal midwife was on holiday but would pick it up next Wednesday (which would be Wednesday just gone) well I still haven't heard anything. I called the doctors and asked them why haven't I had a call and they said it can take up to 10 days for a call and to arrange a visit!!! I feel like this is too long. I think I'm about 7 weeks pregnant and I'm absolutely terrified after having a MMC in July. I really want an early scan for reassurance but have no one who I can ask. I just don't know what to do as I have no idea when I'm going to be getting a call from the midwife!!

Midwives don’t see you until 8 weeks 
I went for a private scan after my first miscarriage and that’s how I found out I miscarried again - look online for a reassurance scan most places do them. 
After my second miscarriage I was having tests for reasons as to why I was miscarrying and when I fell pregnant again I rang the hospital who were treating me and they booked me in for a scan and scanned me every 2 weeks until I got to 12 weeks

Community Midwives wouldn’t tend to deal with you until 16 weeks? 
You need to ring wherever youre planning on having your baby to “book in” with them & arrange a scan. (Maybe it’s different in other parts of the country, hmm)  
I had a scan at 9 weeks on The NHS but that was only because i lied and backdated my LMP and said I had irregular periods, alternatively I would of paid the £40 and went for a private reassurance scan if I needed to!

I haven't registered with my midwife yet and I've had 2 scans the midwife does bookings between 8-10 weeks go to your gp and tell them you are pregnant say you have concerns or milk it a little bit and they will sort you a scan ! They referred me for mine say you've been having cramps they will send you in . I had 2 mc this year so I said what I had to to get my scan ... They just don't take you serious it's not nice ! Book an emergency appointment at your doctors and they can ring and get you an emergency scan x

Go to your doctor and explain your anxiety about waiting until 12 weeks they can refer you to early pregnancy unit who will scan you. Midwifes don’t really deal with you until your second trimester. Or you could request bloods from your doctor for reassurance sometimes you have to really annoy them and if you have history of miscarriage they are normally pretty good xxx

When I first got pregnant the midwife came round to my house the following week which is what I understood was the norm. They take your bloods and a urine sample and go through all the family history of you and your partner. I think my gp must be so stretched that they probably don't rush this through perhaps? I will happily pay for an early scan, I have no problems with that, it's just the fact that I have had zero contact this time around

Midwives near me are really slow i left a message for my booking in but ended up having to just keep ringing until someone picked up. Think I got my appointment at 10weeks 🤔 I had a miscarriage before this pregnancy and had to go for a D&C; but unless you have had 3 miscarriages they are not really interested x

I think it really depends on the area. I have a friend that had 2 miscarriages in a row and still didn't get an early scan (we put money together and bought a private one for her so she could put her mind at ease). I had my first appointment at 10 weeks which was my booking in - my local hospital has an online form where you register your pregnancy and then they send you the booking on appointment (with midwife) and 12 week scan appointment. The regular appointments didn't start until 2nd trimester which is fairly standard.
