Effects of spanking?!

Okay I may just be crazy but I was spanked as a child and it makes me wonder a lot about the effects of spanking, like I have a really bad temper and anger issues. Sometimes I find it hard to control myself and my feelings, I've been working really hard on it but sometimes I wish I wasn't spanked as a child so I'd know if it's my fault I have anger issues or if it stems from being hit.. I feel like if my parents used a more gentle approach at discipline maybe I wouldn't have these issues:/ idk just a thought.

Hmm I get the feeling you don’t have the best relationship with your parents to be even thinking like this. I was spanked as a child and I have anger issues but so was my sisters and they’re mellow as. And I’d never blame my parents for my own short comings. When you have kids don’t smack them and see how they turn out and then you’ll know if it was possibly the cause

Spanking has negative impacts on children. Period. That’s not negotiable. How so many people can justify harming their children is beyond me. I grew up being spanked as a child and I absolutely grew up hating my parents because of it. It didn’t teach me right from wrong. It made me not trust them and to fear them. It also made abuse a very gray area in my mind and I went on to be with an abusive man for too many years. In my mind, it was “okay” that he hit be because he “did it because he loved me” 🙄 that doesn’t even make sense. How your parents raise you absolutely has a long term impact on you and it’s very naive to say it doesn’t. I will never allow my daughter to think it’s okay to be hit because it’s not. Ever. I would never lay a hand on her. It’s a very lazy form of punishment to me. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. If you’re needing more answers, I’d look into some form of therapy! They can help you to better understand yourself and why you are the way you are.

Yeah well I was spanked too. With belts, switches, a leather stick? I'll be the odd ball out. 
Generally, I am a well rounded productive  adult that can handle my emotions correctly and function well in society. 
But I learned that a lot of my issues, even the smaller issues that i face as an adult like anxiety and self esteem issues can be traced back to me being spanked and whooped as a kid. Even the way that I deal with stressful situations, can be traced back to that. 
The studies have been done and they aren't bullshit. 
I choose to listen to them. 
I fear that one day when I have a kid that they'll piss me off and I'll knock the shit out of them in anger. I would never forgive myself.
Because of my job, I am learning about all of this. There's so many other ways to discipline children without putting your hands on them (I've put those ways into practice and they work) so at this point I'm starting to understand why people call spanking "lazy parenting"
