Being induced as we speak. When should I get an epidural?

They are asking me when I want an epidural, and I said whatever they suggested but they said it has to come from me.  So what do you all think??

I fought and fought to not get epidural...i wanted a natural (or as natural as I could) birth, even though I was being induced.  I was afraid that labor would slow down (because I was only 2cm and I had been told to wait til 6cm by so many friends and family members).  My nurse made a good point...they were chemically inducing me.  They weren't going to shut off the pitocin.  Labor wasn't going to stop.  So, I decided at 2cm, when my contractions were literally on top of each other with a max of 30 seconds between (and I was only up to 3mg of pitocin) that I would get the epidural.  An hour and 15 minutes and 5 pushes later, and my baby was born!  My water also broke on it's own about 20-30 minutes after epidural.  It was like my body could finally relax enough to do it's job and catch up to the pitocin.  Also...I could still feel everything and move my legs/back/butt...but just couldn't feel any pain.  I was worried I wouldn't be able to control my pushes because I wouldn't be able to feel anything...not true at all.  I was amazed at how mobile I was!  Congratulations!  I hope its quick and easy for you!!

You can get it at any time. I was induced and waited to get the epidural until the contractions were uncomfortable (but not so painful that I couldn't sit still while the epidural was being placed).

When you are 4-5 cm dilated

Wait as long as you can so it doesn't wear off. I'm sure they're monitoring your contractions so they'll place it in between the waves of them so you can sit still.

It takes like 20 min to take effect, and I've heard to have it in Board before Pitocin. I've heard contractions after being induced can make you want to die 🤷‍♀️
