How old did you start a bedtime routine?

I’m wondering at what age did you start a bedtime routine? And what did you do. I’m not sure how old the baby has to be to get him into a nightly routine.

Its never too early to start as long as you have proper expectations and follow babies lead. Babies cannot self soothe in until at LEAST 6 months but it doesn’t hurt to start a bedtime routine. We started right from the beginning even though my daughter was still waking every 3 hours.

Right from day one. We wanted our daughter to have good sleep habits so we wasted no time n promoting them. We had her sleeping through the night, 10 hours straight by 5 weeks old and she’s been putting herself to sleep since she was about 9 weeks or so. Consistency and routines are so important in establishing good habits.

I have had a (loose) routine since the day we came home from the hospital (baby was 3 weeks old) 
he get bathed if necessary, eats, gets changed, swaddled and I put him down for bed and I walk away to let him put himself to sleep. 
he determines the time, around 7:30 once he starts to want to eat I'll do this routine. sometimes he's in bed by 9, sometimes midnight.
around 6 months you can start to do more of a strict schedule so I'll have a set time to start all this, but I'll still do the same routine.

Right away. Best decision I made. My husband works in the oil field here in Canada so is gone two weeks at a time so for my sanity with a newborn and being exhausted, routine was a life savour.

I was always told to get my baby into a routine straight away and its very difficult in the first year, i think so anyway, because they change so much, night time routine has always been bath bottle bed for whatever time she would be having a bottle in the evening/night. go by what your little one likes to do in the evenings, thats a good place to start, dinner, play, bath, bottle, bed

as early as possible. my son is almost 2 yrs old and he's in a routine, no problem.

From about 1mon. We start around 730pm with baths w/ 1 twin then feed, burp and put to sleep. Then, twin #2 is up. They've been sleeping pretty much through the night 👍

I started from day one. bath and PJs on at about 8pm. feed at 10pm and lights out. feeds at night were dark and no talking. by 2 weeks old both slept 10-6 am. now they are 11 and 7 and sleep 7.30pm till 6am and not even a bomb could wake them. that all said I am not holding out much hope this time around I think I've pushed my luck and this one will never sleep at all 😂.
