He let me down

So my ex has been trying to get me back, we broke up for many reasons, but he seems to have really changed and I decided to try, we are going very slow and not actually a thing. Tonight he was going take me out, was talking about all week. I was so excited, this was gonna be my first date and he was gonna take me to my favorite stores and other stuff. I got back to town around 6:30 and told him. He said he had no idea when he'd be back, we are both in college btw. I'm like that's okay, you can't control when you get back, then he said that he could cause he drives, but wanted to spend time with his dad for his birth weekend. I'm incredibly upset. He knew the whole time he wouldn't be back, yet dragged me on and let me think we'd go out. He kept apologizing saying he really wanted to see me and stuff but yeah, strike one on not getting me back buddy.
