Relationship problems

Is it normal to experience problems early on in a relationship, I mean like as early as just over a year? problems that can be overcame if both partners cooperate.

Its my first serious relationship, we've been together over a year now, but there's problems I wish he would help me with and problems I wish he could prevent because he was the source of it. I want this boy for life, Ive had silly little relationships or had been seeing guys but he's what I want, the guy I love and he's my best friend. I want him for life, but I just wanna hear another opinion.
