fertile and ovulating?

okay sorry i need a little education cause im very confused by the two. can someone explain what these are and what are ways to know when you're on your fertile days and when you're ovulating? 
I've had my period for over 4 years and i never knew these things mattered until i got this app a while ago.

if you mean the green fertile days that glow predict then they are the days leading up to ovulation where any unprotected sex can lead to pregnancy as sperm can survive in those days before you ovulate.
