Dog help

My brother has a mini Australian shepherd. They didn't tell me that they would be home later than they planned and expected me to watch him again. Well I put him in the house at around 3 pm today after being outside for hours. He went to the bathroom and has food and water and all that. Problem is I'm drunk and won't be able to go over there until I go to work tomorrow morning which is around 3 am. So that means he'll be in the house for almost 12 hours. I feel so badly but they didn't tell me! Can he hold it that long? I don't want him to be scared or think he's going to get in trouble if he does go in the house. My dog can hold it for 12 hours but she's husky and a bigger dog
