Sleepless in Los Angeles: How I met the love of my life.

Kandyce

If you ask anyone in my life to describe me in 3 words, atleast one of them would be "responsible", "practical", or "calculated." Yet one night, I when I was in college, I was having trouble focusing on homework because I was feeling depressed. The more I reflected on how routine my life had become "sleep, school, work, study, repeat," the more down I felt. Suddenly, I had an insane thought. I decided I wanted to have coffee with a stranger. No romance. No hook ups. Just coffee and good conversation. So off the craigslist I went (btw, this is sounding more and more insane as I type this out). Anyways, I posted an ad if Craiglist and titled it after my drink order at Starbucks: "Chai Tea Latte. No water. Soy." My post read something to the effect of "I want to have coffee with a stranger. I don't care if you are a man or woman- I care about good convo. Do not, I repeat do NOT send me some nasty dick pic." Instantly, I regreted it. I got 200+ responses and every single one was some pervert and you guessed it dick pics galore! Needless to say, I was super embarrassed. I logged offline and tried to forget about this clear lapse of judgement and vowed to myself to never tell anyone. Flash forward to 2 days later. I signed back into the email address I had created just to make this craigslist post with the intention of deleting the post and the email account. There it was. The most recent email had been sent a few hours before and there was no attachment which meant no dick pic! Curiosity got the best of me so I clicked on this one last email. His name, David. He was a coffee connoisseur who insisted on Coffe Bean and Tea Leaf over Starbucks. We set a meeting for that night and obviously I arrived 30 minutes prior to scope the place out on the off chance this guy was a total serial killer. He walked in once I had taken my seat and approached my table. "Kandyce?" he said. You guys- I know there is some debate about love at first sight but there is definetly love at first word. It was like my name never existed before his lips formed the word. We talked until the coffee shop closed that night and sat for 3 more hours in the parking lot. It was like I had known him forever. 5 years later, he got down on one knee in a heart of rose petals in front of both our families and asked me to marry him. Side note- he had a surprise engagement party planned for that same night! I never dreamed I could be this happy. Moral(s) of the story: 1- Your craziest ideas may have a stroke of genius to them. 2- Souls DO have mates, and I have found mine. ❤❤❤ Thanks for reading my story. I would love to hear how you met your soul mate if you would be willing to share!
