Metronidazole(flagyl) while pregnant?

I am 10 weeks pregnant and when I went for my Pap smear they called me the next day and said they called in a prescription bc I have an infection and needed to take an antibiotic. It’s metronidazole 500 mg tablets twice a day. I’ve had bacterial vaginosis several times but haven’t had it that I knew of in the past couple years and i currently have no symptoms so I️ was kind of surprised. Anyway, I’ve read conflicting stories about whether or not it’s safe to take in the first trimester so I’m wondering if anyone has any advice? I would normally use tea tree oil in the bath but I’m not sure if that’s safe while pregnant either. Has anyone had good or bad things happen if you took the antibiotic in the first tri!?
