New mom hair cut before or after birth?

Question

Right now, the longest layer of my hair reaches down to my butt (thank you prenatals!) But that means my hair has damage to the bottom due to tangles and my highlights. 
Anyways I know I will need a hair cut sooner or later, because I know I will not have any time to style it and I don't want it to get in the way, plus I don't want to always put it up. Not going for a short bob but more medium/shoulder length.

I am a cosmetologist and I advice you not to make any big hair transformations while pregnant....I speak from experience on that end that us pregnant women shouldn't be making those decisions because it's hard to distinguish if it is really what you want or hormones.  Obviously if you're completely set on it...GO FOR IT! If you're hesitant, maybe a long layered cut would be a perfect fix!

I just got mine cut to donate. I was just over 10w but like you I didn't want to be constantly putting it up and I had been growing it out for over 4 years to donate it. I will probably be keeping it short for awhile. Anyway if you do get it cut and you don't really like it, it's hair it will grow back.

The question is are you going to have time to go and get a cut after baby arrives? I personally just got my first haircut since my baby was born 5 months ago! It can be hard to get time away on your own for appointments.

I cut my hair postpartum because it’s easier to maintain and baby love kept pulling it 🙄  I honestly plan on keeping it between this length and the length it was during pregnancy. It’s easy to keep and style. I admire mamas that can keep long hair!

I cut it after and regretted it. I feel like before and after birth the hormones are going crazy. The last thing you need is a new hairstyle on top of new baby, and god forbid it turns out bad 😩
Mine wasn't bad, in fact it was super cute. But emotionally I wasn't sound enough for that much change. I went from hair down to my butt, to at my shoulders. It was too drastic of a change with everything going on. So just keep that in mind!

I’d say cut it before, so you get used to it before the baby comes. Just don’t go too short or it may be too shocking!

I cut 14 inches off my hair and it felt amazing!

I got a trim a week before I was due. My ends were pretty damaged and I figured I wouldn’t want to do much after the baby came. The guy gave me a little too much in the way of layering which annoyed me but it grew out as it always does.

I cut my hair like a month before I had my son because i just felt like it being short would be easier for me being a first time mom so I didn’t have to do much to it. Im not too girly though.
