Is it considered assault?

My ex would touch me when I said I didn’t want to be touched. Or I would tell him I didn’t want to have sex but he would always get angry when I said no so I gave in so that we didn’t fight. I was scared of him getting angry so I’d let him touch me and what not. Is this considered assault? I know he was manipulative but idk if it’s assault. He would always get soooo angry after I said that I didn’t want to do anything, and I’d ask him if hesmad and he’d say no but he’s act completely different and in a bad mood for the rest of the day. I’m posting anon cause I’m scared of the people who will say “no! How dare you even say that!?” /:
