Advice wanted : heart murmur and birth

Hi there ladies,

I have a question. I have just had my 18 week check up with my Midwife/doctor and have been told that I have a significant heart murmur. My doctor/midwife have referred me to. Cardiologist for a second opinion. My main concern know is what does this mean for me and my baby? And how does it affect myself and Bub when it’s time to give birth? If anybody has any information or has been in a similar situation any advice would be perfect. I know that asking my doctor is the best option for getting answers but she wouldn’t talk to me about anything in regards to it until i see the cardiologist (which is over a month away) and I’m starting to feel a little concerned.
