Amniotic fluid or discharge?

How are we supposed to tell if we are leaking amniotic fluid or just regular cm?

If you are leaking amniotic fluid, you will most likely measure behind at your appointments because it will decrease your belly size. If you are leaking enough to fill a panty liner within an hour, that is cause for concern. Otherwise I wouldn’t stress. Amniotic fluid is clear liquid, typically discharge is a bit thicker and can range from clear to more milky colored.

Amniotic fluid would be clear, and keep coming. Even with lots of discharge, you’re dry for a bit. If your water breaks in a leak, it’s actually pretty easy to know something is different. It’s clear, it’s basically water, it’s ALOT. Like, discharge can get plentiful, but my water soaked my panties and into my pants. And continued to trickle. It trickles before I peed and kept going after.

amniotic fluid will be clear and have a sweet smell to it, discharge will be watery and usually have a tint of white to it. recently I had discharge that confused me I put my finger down there and it looked clear, but as the water was dripping down my finger, it was white plus it didn't smell sweet to me. it  ended up being discharge. also, you will consistently have leaking. best way to tell is to go pee, put a spades or a piece of toilet paper in your underwear, then lay on your side for 30 minutes to an hour. you can then observe it to see if it dries like water clear and smells sweet.
