Birth control experiences?

I’m on the fence about bc. I would like to use pills not insertion because I HATE needles. I want to start using it because I’m sorta sexually active and want to be safe and I’m hoping it could clear up my acne and help with my pmsing. But...I don’t want to lose my sex drive or gain weight. My mom is against it since she took it and got a lump in her breast from it supposedly and thinks I will too. She thinks all those hormones aren’t good for your body. But I’d rather be safe than sorry. What do you guys recommend?

My experience with BC depo shot is that it stopped my period which I really needed, I did not gain weight at all. I’ve been taking it for a year or two now. I love it better then ever taking pills or patch or even a combo of pills and patch

My experience with BC was awful. My period pretty much disappeared, which sounds great but it caused my hormones to be all over the place, constant migraines when it was supposed to be that “time” of month, and I gained a ton of weight. When I stopped BC I went through severe depression and my DH couldn’t help deal with it at all. I’ve never had post partum depression, but from what others have told me it was similar to that low of hormone removal after birth. It definitely worked like it was supposed to, but I will probably never get on it again. Not everyone is like this though. My sister has no problems with it, so every persons physical response to it will be different.
