Too big for chair?

Question

I saw a video on Facebook about a nail salon who refused to give a women a pedicure because she was 450+ lbs and they claimed she would break the chair due to the weight limit. Everyone is up in arms over it being discrimination. Should the nail salon be penalized? Or did they have good reason? 
Bonus question for comments:
Should other places be able to do it? For example, restaurants if they could break the chairs? Should places have to accommodate overweight people? 
Note: THIS IS NOT A POST TO SHAME OVERWEIGHT PEOPLE. IT WAS A VIDEO AND THIS IS SOLELY ABOUT THE LAWS AND REGULATIONS.

I really think there’s a limit to this, but if someone is 450+ lbs, I don’t think establishments should have to accommodate them. There’s nothing wrong with being overweight, but being obese is totally different. If you’re to the size where you break furniture, that’s your own problem. You did that to yourself, and it’s not society’s job to accommodate you.

Those seats aren’t like a restaurant seat. They cost thousands bc they are the ones that heat and massage. Just like a tanning bed there are weight limits. If someone pays for their equipment and it’s part of their livelihood it’s their right to refuse to let someone who is past the weight limit use it.  No one puts up videos and bitches at tanning salons and gyms that have the signs that say if you’re over 250 or 300 lbs you can’t tan bc you’ll crack the acrylic and break the bed. Why should a nail salon be different?

If an overweight person needs to pay for 2 seats in a plane, cant ride certain roller coasters, or cant ride a horse then no they shouldnt sit in the chair

I mean, should they have let her sit in it, break it, then be out of money because they need to buy a new chair? Absolutley reasonable. I can see where feelings may have been hurt, but i don't see a thing wrong with denying service over it.

To me it’s more of a liability to willingly put someone in danger (let them sit in a chair even though they exceed the weight requirement) than it is to turn them away. It’s not about discriminating but about their safety. If she would’ve broke the chair and injured herself she could’ve turned around and sued the Salon. It’s no different to me than little kids not being able to ride certain amusement park rides if they don’t meet the height and weight requirements. No one screams discrimination in that case.

If the chairs actually have a weight limit it would be a safety concern... It would be a difficult conversation to turn someone away but it also wouldn’t be right to put them at risk

Well chairs do have weight limitations, and those chairs aren't cheap.  It probably would've been even more humiliating for her to sit in the chair and have it break infront of everyone.  But I think it would be a hard rule to enforce everywhere and could turn into a nasty shit-show with restaurants turning away people purely because they're overweight even if they don't meet this limit.

An airline would make her buy 2 tickets. So no. I don’t think it’s discrimination. There’s a difference between being overweight and being obese.
