If your mother was difficult [read:toxic, passive aggressive] would you try to build a tolerable relationship so that your son could have a grandmother?
For context, we last met a year and a half ago. last phone call was when I was 3 months pregnant, calling to tell her the news that a horrible scare was nothing and the baby was healthy. she yelled at me for being dissappointing and not having twins "like other people" and taking so long to get my life in order. I had called from the clinic and was sobbing by the time I put the phone down.
