Number of embryos to transgrr

I am currently in my first cycle of ivf and should have my retrieval anywhere between 4-6 days from now! My husband and I are super excited but we don’t know how many embryos we want to transfer. My doctor recommends just one but she’s willing to give us the choice of one or two. I’d love to transfer two to increase our chances of having at least one baby, but I don’t want to put my potential future babies at risk.

What advice or experiences does anyone have with this?

Some background: were both 30 and this would be our first child with our first round of ivf after two failed iui cycles. I’m responding well to all medications and so far everything has been boring and normal in my treatment. We’re paying completely out of pocket, so the less treatment we have to go through the better, it’s been about 20k so far since we started treatment in March!
