Husband hates condoms

I had a miscarriage a few weeks ago. My husband and I are waiting so I can be out back on birth control, but that depends when I get my period (hopefully after my levels drop; so relatively quickly). We bought condoms and tried using 1 last night and he hated it. Complained lol it’s either those or no sex for 1-2 months you know? I’m trying to prevent pregnancy now (not that I was when I had the miscarriage), but he has to respect me. How Can I make condoms easier to use? Any tips?!
