Do you need your SO passwords

I was in a relationship with an extremely unfaithful man previously. My current SO doesn’t give me any reason to think he is a cheater besides he says he doesn’t wanna share passwords he says I just need to suck it up and trust him. He makes me mad because if I ask for his phone to look at it when I’m mad he’ll say no he’ll question why I’m not trusting. But on a normal day he does let me go on it and he’ll leave it with me and let me use it he just doesn’t like feeling like I’m snooping. This annoys me though because I’m like if you have nothing to hide why can’t I know your passwords???? But I do know his phone passcode. I don’t even go through his stuff I just like know if I felt uncomfortable one day and if I thought something was fishy I can do some investigating..

No. In healthy relationships with trusts you do not. People are entitled to their digital privacy. 
Seriously though I literally can't imagine wanting someone else password. Other than their phone passcode so I can call people when my phone is dead or something. But seriously. What's the big deal with it??

I’m in a relationship with another human being. We share pretty much everything however, he’s/I’m allowed to have my own privacy-so nope, in out relationship we’ve never exchanged passwords. Never had a reason to , weve been together 11 years

im on his side on this one. he already trusts you with his phone. its not his fault when you are insecure and demand to snoop through his phone. thats violating his privacy. yes, it feels very violating when you know someone is purposefully going through your things. you getting angry and not trusting him probably hurts him a lot when hes given you no reason not to and ordinarily allows you free access to his phone. how would you feel if you were with someone that constantly accused you of cheating and always demanded to go through all of your things trying to look for wrongdoing.

I wouldn't want my husband to have access to my phone. I have nothing to hide but my conversations with my girlfriends and my mom are my private conversations. I wouldn't want anyone reading my private conversations. It's a respect thing to me. So I don't expect to look at his either. I don't think being in a relationship means losing all rights to privacy.

Some people become insanely offended when you imply that there was a lack of trust. So instead of expecting him to cater to your insecurities, what you do is you deal with those insecurities on your own, even if that means seeing a therapist. He is not obligated to share his phone with you. I am the same as him, I am not hiding anything, I’m not cheating on anyone, I just expect trust. If a person cannot trust me, then they need to leave me and find one that they can trust.

I do not have my boyfriends password and he does not have mine. Neither have anything to hide but it’s not needed. It’s my social media or his. Learn to trust. And yeah if you only want it when you’re mad then you will find anything to get mad about. I wouldn’t give it to you either

No. I mean I know my boyfriends phone code, but I don’t need to know his passwords out of me respecting privacy and space. He lets me check his accounts/texts, but I hardly do any of that.
