Delivering at smaller hospital thoughts?

I've been going to a large hospital but recently took a class at our local county hospital or aka the band aid station. But holy cow, their maternity unit was so nice and all of the nurses and techs were so personable and caring! they only do 350 births a year they said. I definitely want to switch because it made me way more comfortable, but it still is a small hospital and worries me if something goes wrong. experiences or opinions welcome!

If that's what you're comfortable with, go for it! I would just find out information on closest Nicu and what would happen in the event everything didn't go perfectly, just to be informed. I am also going to deliver at a smaller hospital this with the closet (best) Nicu over an hour away.

I would just be sure that proper resources are available should something go wrong. Is there a NICU would be my biggest thing...if baby ends up there, and there isn’t one in that hospital you would be separated, and unable to see him/her till you were cleared to leave.

Depends on the hospital. For pregnancies that are going well l,with staff that is trained well, I can see it going great. In my area the local smaller hospital is horrible for births- they induce without reason, push for epidurals, and give c-sections whenever things go a little too long-- and have high infection/disease spreading rates in general. Which is unfortunate for me, because they have tubs (can't deliver but can labor in them), but the bigger hospital further away doesn't. The staff is better at the bigger hospital in my area and they have better natural birth success rates. Again, it all depends.
