How to get diagnosed?

I am pretty sure I have PCOS. I had a feeling I did when I was 16, but when I went to the doctor back then all they did was put me on birth control. They didn’t even listen to me. 
Now I’m 30 and after coming off the pill I have the same issues again. 
I have a doctors appointment this month and I want to get tested for PCOS. What do I have to do to be taken seriously and to get them to listen to me? Going back on birth control is not an option.

it took me 5 doctors before I finally found someone to test me. I have regular periods so it felt like no one wanted tobtake me seriously. I started with a new obgyn after not being able to get pregnant. She was hesitant at first, but the labs ans ultrasounds confirmed PCOS. You know your body better than a doctor. Keep pushing to get tested!

I lied to my OB and told her I had been trying to conceive for over a year with no luck. They did an ultrasound to diagnose me then followed up with blood work and a glucose test. Found out I am insulin resistant and was started on metformin. I know lying probably sounds horrible, but it was the only way I was taken seriously.
