What happens at the second appointment?

My OBGYN scheduled me once every 4 weeks but I was told I would only get 2 more ultrasounds. One at 20 weeks and the last one at 36 weeks (I think). I guess what I don't understand is how will they check and make sure the baby is doing good and what will they do to me in those appointments?

My first appointment was just paperwork, my second was a Pap smear and they checked my breasts, as well as my first ultrasound. Every appointment after that has been weight, fundal height, heart rate, babies heart rate, and a quick discussion before sending me out the door- about 15 minutes total.

they just measure your fundal height after 20 weeks. After 12 weeks or so they check for the heartbeat with the Doppler. they may do blood work they may do urinalysis they talk to you they check your weight your blood pressure some offices will check your temperature that's about it

Overall every 4 weeks its just a checkup to see how you’re feeling and if there’s any pain/unusual symptoms you want to talk to your doctor with. your doctor will measure you once you’re a certain amount of weeks. check the baby’s heart rate, also you will have to do blood tests within the time you don’t see your doctor, they can never know 100% that your baby is 100% healthy, but overall if you don’t have any concerns at your appointments everything should be fine and baby should be healthy 😊

They will more than likely listen to the heartbeat at every appointment with the Doppler.

Talk to your OB. Many OB offices only do one ultrasound during the entire pregnancy around 18-20 weeks, unless there are complications necessitating others. Your OB will likely talk to you about symptoms, do your required blood work, including your glucose test, etc. it's not necessary to have an ultrasound each time. I hope this helps!
