Indiana birth certificate?

So I just recently finally got my divorce finalized and I'm now pregnant the baby isn't my ex husband obviously but I keep hearing the dad can't go on the birth certificate BC we arent married and we have to do a DNA test and everything. Anyone know how it works?

Your divorce is final so you don't even have to put a father on the birth certificate. You can say you don't know who is the father and give the child your maiden name.

The father will likely have to sign a paternity affidavit claiming the child as his and waiving the paternity test. I was unmarried and had to do this in both Oklahoma and South Dakota.

its only an issue if you are still married to someone else. in some states, the person you are legally married to is automatically placed on the birth certificate whether he is the father or not.

not true i had my first at 16 and the dad was put in the birth certificate (not in indiana tho) but either way i don't think you have to be married you can go to the place where they do the birth certificates and ask too

That's not true. You can list any dad on the birth certificate as long as he's willing to
Sign and agree that he doesn't disagree that the child is his. If there's a doubt then they will do paternity test in the hospital for you.
