Anyone have or had marginal-cord-insertion??

I just went to my 30 week check up and my doctor told me I had something called marginal cord insertion. I’ve never heard of it . Has anyone experienced this with previous pregnancy or there pregnancy now? What do you know about it? Thanks in advance

Yes I have it. It's when the cord is attached 2cm or less to the edge of the placenta instead of in the middle. sometimes this can cause problems with nutrients getting to the baby causing grow restriction. Normally the doctor will find it earlier and recommend you have a growth scan around 30-32 weeks but it sounds like you already had that scan! In most cases they grow as normal it's just something to keep an eye on.

I have it this pregnancy. I’d never heard of it either. It was explained to me that the umbilical cord is not connected to the center of the placenta, it’s more on the side and not as strong as if it was in the center. Sorry I’m trying to remember how the OB worded it. I wish I could draw you the little pic she drew for me haha. I know she told me that it means they won’t be tugging or pulling the cord during labor just as a precaution. And that it’s not something I need to worry about, it used to be something they found out after birth but now we have this wonderful ultrasound technology that informs us of these things.
