is it bad to do an ultrasound before 13 weeks?

my midwife said i should wait until then for my first ultrasound but after two miscarriages i want one soon as possible. what do you guys think?

I had my first US at 8 weeks. I had a missed miscarriage last year and I didn’t want to wait until later for it. 8 weeks you will hear a heartbeat 💗 and see the little flicker that’s his or her heart beating. It’s beautiful

Neither of our local hospitals will do one before the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. However, I had one at weeks 5 and 7 (I had surgery the cycle before getting pregnant so they wanted to make sure it wasn’t tubal), 11 (couldn’t find a heartbeat), 19 weeks (anatomy scan), 24 weeks (car accident), and 36 weeks (I didn’t have GD but was borderline so they wanted to check size). My little guy cane out completely fine. If they were bad I feel like they wouldn’t have wanted to do them on me at the beginning as I was high risk.

Does she listen to the heartbeat with a doppler? My midwife is the same. She only does one sonogram around 20 week to check anatomy but she checks the heartbeat with the Doppler at every visit. It's not as nice as seeing your little one but it does give some reassurance. We usually go to an independent sono place around 15 weeks to find out gender. My husband can never wait 20 weeks. Lol

Did you have your fort u/s for dating? The next u/s they schedule is usually a 20 week anatomy scan to look at baby’s parts and make sure everything is growing right. Jut keep thinking about how every day, your chance of miscarriage is decreasing more and more and your baby is growing more and more as well.

I had my standard ones at 12 weeks and 20 weeks, and I also paid for a private one at 7 weeks because I was really stressed out as I had a previous miscarriage.

No, but for your own piece of mind it's better to wait till around 12/13 weeks, because you'll see more and have a better chance at getting a better indication on how well the fetus is doing. Going early you might not get to see much, if anything, which will only increase your worry.
