Induction/mag drip?

Question

I’ve developed gestational hypertension and will be induced within the next 10 days, at 36-37 weeks. My doctors are talking about a pitocin, a magnesium drip, blood pressure meds and my desired epidural. Anyone else going through or recently gone through similar situations? Have you had a successful vaginal birth? Just seems like so many drugs running through my system and I’m nervous about my pressures going sky high throughout labor.

just dont take the epidural to early it can stall your labor. wait until you really need it. thats what i did and had successful births

This was with my first but I was a cervidil induction bc my cervix was closed/thick/high.. the mag drip was terrible but keeps you from seizing so it’s necessary. I had 2 cervidils and made no progress so I opted for a c/s because I felt so awful from the mag. I’m an l&d; nurse though and it doesn’t always end that way so if you only need pitocin because your already dilated some then you have a better shot at a vaginal delivery!

I can’t speak from experience with regard to labor but I did go into preterm labor around 26 weeks and they had me on a mag drip and it was horrid. It makes you so thirsty and I felt like I was burning from the inside for 3 freaking days. Apparently the mag helps protect baby’s brain though so whatever is necessary. I’m not sure why they’re using it during induction but I’m not a dr lol.
