Diapers that don’t leak?

We’ve been using Pampers on our son from day 1 (started with Snugglers, now using Baby Dry) and love them because they don’t cause a rash. We’re between size 2 and size 3 right now (still using up our leftover size 2), and our poor baby just had a massive blowout while we were driving up to my parents’ house (2 hour drive) for Christmas.  First time it’s ever happened to us, but it was very upsetting because he got runny poop all over his cute Christmas outfit and the car seat! 
We tried some leftover Kirkland diapers from my sister in the beginning, but our son completely soaked through them almost every time. We also tried some leftover Huggies, but they caused a rash on our poor guy. Any other suggestions for diapers that don’t leak and won’t cause a rash? Should I just stick with Pampers and chalk it up to a one time fluke?

Just like everyone said, def time for the bigger size but you are lucky this was your first! 
Suggestions? 
Go to the size that fits. Save or give the diapers to someone else. 
Stick with the brand that doesn’t cause him a rash. Blowouts happen. Rashes are worse. 
Don’t wear special outfits for longish car rides. 
Vinegar and water mixed.... soak the car seat with it and let it air dry for about a day. Will get the poop smell out (or vomit, when that starts happening) out he best.

honestly blowouts happen no matter what your using. my daughter had it one on our 24 trip to Texas and we had two hours left to drive to our first stop and it was a disaster. they push it out and sometimes it just goes everywhere since its still so soft. We've used pampers and huggies and we had a blowout with both now we use luvs but her poops ate more on the normal side than always super soft. So if pampers works great then stay with it.

Luvs and UP&UP; (target brand) have been my go to's I literally get mad when my husband buys Pampers or Huggies because they just don't work well for them. The thing I realized about traveling and blow outs is the babies are putting all their top weight on their diapers and causing blowouts to happen more often... with poo there's no where for it  to go except for our. Could, brand, changing more frequently. We took a trip from Wisconsin to New York to Texas and somehow, thankfully, didn't see one blow out!! We stopped every 2 hours and I'd feel the diapers and if we heard a grunt we'd stop.

Stick with pampers. He leaked because he had runny poop and was stuck sitting in it in the car seat! Fluke nobody’s fault, including the diapers!

If he’s between sizes I would say it’s time to size up. The larger size may have prevented the blow out!

he also could've leaked bc 2 might too small for him.  Once my little one starts leaking or pooping through diapers I usually notice its time to size up

Most likely a one time thing but if anything, I found Parents Choice (Wal-Mart brand) work pretty well.

Nothing will prevent that kind of poop explosion. I'm a mom of 3 and have tried every diaper brand. My favorite is pampers cruisers. But a blow out is a blow out especially if they're sitting when it happens, nowhere for it to go but out, regardless of the diaper.

My kids were divas about diapers. Pampers swaddlers then cruiser were the only thing that contained them. Most expensive freaking kind. 🙄😳
