I’ve been raised Catholic, so premarital sex isn’t ideal in my family. My boyfriend and I are having serious discussions about sex, but I won’t have it without birth control. I know that my mom is okay with birth control, but I don’t know how she’ll react to me possibly having sex. How should I approach her?

I’m only fifteen (I know I’m younger, but I’m mature and take this very seriously). I’ve been researching birth control, and I even know what I want (Nuvaring). I’m prepared to have this conversation, but I’m nervous about her reaction.

How should I ask her? I don’t want to lie to her about the reason I want birth control.
