I and 6+3 (rainbow) and since it’s Christmas we told our families as a gift. I announced (to both in the same way) that DH wanted to show them the shirt I got for him. We already had plans to spend Christmas <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.glow.android.eve">Eve</a> with his family and Day with mine. The shirt says “Be Nice to Me My Wife is Pregnant,” and all was going well until tonight. After we told my parents, my mother was saying how excited she was and I told her, “we made everyone cry this Christmas.” She seemed to withdraw a bit and asked if we’d told his family already and I said yes, because we celebrated with them yesterday. And she was fine... for a bit.

My parents left a little while later, but my mother came back with a gift for the expected baby. And when DH left the room she said that she and my father were upset, though he just won’t say so. They feel like they always come last. I told her that this was how I wanted to announce and if we had spent <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.glow.android.eve">Eve</a> with them then they’d know first, but I’m sorry they feel that way. She said she understood, but it’s been more than this. I honestly don’t know what she’s getting at, but I’m beside myself. Our happy Christmas announcement was just ruined by my mother because she didn’t know first!

I know this isn’t my fault and I know there is nothing I can do or say to change the way she feels. I just had to tell someone other than DH who is in the dark with me.
