Do small details matter in a marriage or relationship?

So I have been married for 5 years... well they say guys usually aren’t attention to detailed my husband forgot to tell me happy anniversary.. I had gotten him a small gift and balloon and he came in the house and asked me who got the ballon for me when I replied it’s yours. He then stared and apologized he had forgotten which I was totally upset. Fast forward... 
Christmas comes and he doesn’t get me a gift? He says I can take money from the account and just go out and buy myself something. I know Christmas and everything on a daily basis isn’t about money but I do feel like he should be a little more detailed. A small flower could have done the job or a small little date . Anyone else agree... what do you think? Was that wrong? Or am I just being a drama queen ? I never said anything about the Christmas present... I just let it go but it is bothering me cause I did manage to go out and get him something small.

I don't see anywhere in the page rules where you can't post anonymous. These kinds of petty responses are what turn people off from responding or posting in the first place.

I also don't see where you broke any room rules. If they don't want people posting anonymous, then that option shouldn't be available. As far as you give goes, you should let him know how it makes you feel and what it means to you to receive a gift from him. He could shop online from his phone. I don't like shopping, so I shop from the comfort of my home. Maybe a recommendation like that would help. Communication is key, he can't read your mind honey. Just talk to him.

I think that you should let him know that you feel that way even though it may not be something big, it still bothered you a bit. Keeping this in when it bothers you can add up and disappoint you as time goes by so in my opinion just tell him! guys aren't mind readers so it's easier to just let them know, "babe i was hoping you'd get me a present and I'm kinda sad" and if he thinks it's silly that you're upset then fuck him(jk) because it made you upset nonetheless. I'm a big believer in communication and hopefully he'll make it up to you!

My husband has never forgot my birthday , anniversary , or holidays. I have forgot an anniversary when we where first dating. We have been together 14 years I think. I think important to remember even if it just small like just flowers.  But if you married him knowing that how he was than you can’t really be mad about it know.  Was he like this before you got married?

COMMUNICATION IS KEY. 
I had a similar problem before we had kids. He thought it wasn't a big deal to not do anything at all for anniversaries ect. And instead of sitting upset, i just told him that it doesn't matter how small, but some sort of recognition of the special day would make a world of difference. I said i don't need expensive gifts or fancy dinners. 
He didnt think that i cared about those things. But now that he knows he makes an effort.

Nope you need to tell him that it really hurts your feelings when he doesn’t get you a gift or recognize your anniversary. Mine got me an unwrapped hair dryer and no card for my birthday and I basically had a few words to say... it’s not about the gift or money spent it’s the thought and time put into it. So for Christmas he got me handmade mukluks, a hat and mug I wanted as well as a beautiful necklace and oil diffuser lol so he hit it out of the park. You need to start being honest about your feelings though... they’re important.

My hubby never remembers birthdays or anniversaries, and doesn't get me anything for Christmas. He just forgets to go shopping. We've been married 10 years, so I just remind him a bunch and then he might get me something a few days before and then just hand it to me in a shopping bag or something. Most of the time though he just doesn't. It sucks and it hurts, but when it's Christmas I wait until a few days after and then get myself something I wanted but didn't get. He works and I don't so it's all his money anyway, so either way he's buying me something. But he will also randomly get me something throughout the year too. Not often maybe once or twice, but still.

Yes, the small details matter. My husband regularly forgets holidays and gets the date of our anniversary wrong almost every year. I used to wait it out to see if he’d remember. He’d forget and I’d be hurt. Now, although I tease him about it, I mention the important dates ahead of time, regularly. He never meant to hurt me by forgetting, he’s just awful at details. Now, he has no excuses and I have to say, we’re both happier. We don’t go overboard, but it’s nice to get a card or flowers.
