PP sex question

Yes I know you’re supposed to wait until you ob gives you the okay but my doctor isn’t seeing me until 8 weeks pp and we haven’t had sex since August. My little one is 16 days old, and I haven’t been bleeding the last 2 days. I did have an episiotomy so I know I need to let my stitches heal but my boyfriends birthday is January 17 so I’m thinking maybe I’d buy something sexy as a “birthday surprise”

Did anyone else have sex before the 6 week mark? Is it as big a deal as some people make it out to be or is it alright as long as bleeding has ceased?
