Pregnant with the flu (really long post)
I’m 12 weeks pregnant, i have a really bad flu to the point where my muscles are sore and it hurts to walk. I’m considered high risk due to previous miscarriages so doctor doesn’t feel comfortable with me taking any medicine except for Tylenol for my headache and pains. I mean I’m throwing up everything I eat, I have a fever, I’m sore, I’m dizzy, runny nose, can’t stop coughing up mucus, sore throat where I can barely talk, can only breathe through my mouth so my lips are cracked and bleeding, and having some bowel problems. So before this work cut my hours to 3 days a week. So I can’t even afford to call out if I was ALLOWED to. Yea that’s right I said allowed.
I told my manager about the flu and everything that’s going on with me right now, you know what she said? “If you call out for this I’ll be writing you up for job abandonment and you will be fired.” She said she’s already tired of me requesting off for my prenatal appointments that I’m supposed to be requesting off for!! So I’ll be written up for job abandonment not even for calling out! Which is immediate termination! So here I am, can barely walk or drive, going to work because I got unlucky with the new manager being a bitch and I can’t afford to lose this job. She knows this and is completely taking advantage of it. The worse part is I am this sick being forced to go in and I handle other people’s food. Time to look for another job.
