D&C or Pills after a missed miscarriage?

Today at 9 weeks 5 days, I had an ultrasound to find that my baby stopped growing at 6 weeks and had no heartbeat. The dr recommended that I have a d&c; to remove the pregnancy since my body is showing no signs of doing anything on its own. He did say there was the option to take some pills but that option was painful and I would have a lot of bleeding and would have to pass it all on my own over 2-3 Days. The D&C; is costly and I really don’t want to add any pain to the already existing pain I’m having from knowing my pregnancy is not viable. I just don’t know what to do.
