should I pump?

baby girl is 5 days old today and only feeding from one breast at a time leaving the other one full and its kinda painful, should I pump the other one to empty it when she's done eating? I'm ebf so whatever I do pump will kinda go to waste

I think it’s advised at every feed you see if the baby wants both breasts, by pumping it’ll increase demand. I suppose it depends if you want to pump to create a back up in the freezer

I would pump the other to start a little stash for yourself! Just don’t excessively pump this early to save yourself from creating an oversupply. It took a few weeks for my milk supply to regulate and then I stopped getting that extra full feeling. And I loved having the extra stash when I needed some time for my sore nipples to have a break!

I use a manual hand pump on the other while my little one feeds. I can’t stand feeling engorged it drives me nuts lol! But I do store and freeze mine in storage bags so I can have a drink or two once in awhile.
