How early can I take a pregnancy test after sex?

On Christmas eve & Christmas my boyfriend and I had sex and he stayed inside, his birthday is coming up and if I'm pregnant I want to do a cute announcement present, but is it too early to test?

Have you been tracking ovulation and your periods? Without that info it's impossible to even give you an estimate. If you have a regular 28 day cycle you should ovulate about 2 weeks after the first day of your last period and can test about 2 weeks after that

When was your last period? It depends on when your next expected period is. Most tests will show a positive a few days before your next expected period. I took a test 5 days before my expected period and had a VERY faint positive. The next day I took one again and it was a little more clear. The next day I took one again and it was a clear (albeit still faint) positive.
