Tongue piercing indent

I got my tongue pierced a little over a month ago, when the swelling went down I noticed there was a gap under the ball into my tongue. I’ve had friends tell me it’s normal but I’m not convinced it is especially since it’s been a few weeks. It doesn’t hurt but the top ball does sink down into the hole.
