Should I text him first?

Okay so my boyfriend and I have been together for a week now just asking would it be bad if I texted him first in the morning? I usually leave that up to him but I’m not sure. He says sometimes that damn my girl doesn’t wanna talk to me in a sarcastic voice like he’s joking lol. I’m not sure should I text him first I never really do. I usually leave it up to him lol.. what should I do?
